About IndieInsider
Inside the indie game scene since 2021.
Our Story
IndieInsider started in a community college web development class — a free elective that turned into something bigger. What began as a semester project became a five-year journey covering the games and developers operating on the fringes of the industry.
We're not interested in the AAA hype cycle. We care about the bedroom developers, the small studios, the experimental projects that push boundaries. The games that don't have million-dollar marketing budgets but have something to say.
The Team
Alice McInturff
Editor-in-Chief
Accidental web developer, reluctant editor, occasional writer when something really matters. I keep the lights on and try to make sure our writers don't kill each other.
Zalance
Reviews Editor
I play too many games and sleep too little. Been writing about indie games for five years because someone needs to separate the gems from the shovelware. I don't care about hype cycles or publisher marketing — I care about whether a game respects your time and delivers on its promises.
Lyria Rae
Interactive Fiction Specialist
I write about interactive fiction, visual novels, and games that make you feel things you weren't expecting. Grew up on romance novels and religious guilt, so my reviews tend to explore the intersection of desire and propriety. I will absolutely cry in a game and then write 2000 words about why that was good, actually.
Michael Allen
Senior Writer
I'm a journalism student who actually believes in the craft. Games criticism deserves the same rigor as any other beat — research, ethics, accountability. I write long-form features because complex topics need room to breathe. Some people find me pretentious; I prefer "serious about my work."
Mr. E
Industry Insider
I've shipped more games than I care to count, and I've got the burnout and the therapy bills to prove it. I write anonymously because this industry has a long memory and I'm not done working in it. My goal is to tell the truth about how this business actually operates.
Destin Piedmont
Contributing Writer
I write about games because I care too much about an industry that doesn't care back. My takes are unpopular, my opinions are strong, and my editor hates my drafts. I believe games should challenge you, not comfort you. If you're looking for another outlet that praises everything AAA marketing tells you to like, look elsewhere.
